Ted was a Top Marksman at all levels of the Sport of Athletics. Ted and his wife could always be seen at this Club, they both worked tirelessly for many years giving up their own personal time to help the Club and Sport of Athletics. Doreen put in many hours at the Club including working many hours behind the Club tea bar.
There were so many memories of Ted – his expertise as Top Official Marksman, his friendliness, his quiet demeanour – always with a smile on his face, nothing was ever too much for Ted and Doreen who spent over thirty five years at this Club, Ted loved the Sport and we will never be able to thank him and Doreen enough.
They eventually moved to Frinton on Sea, but that never stopped Ted, who still made the journey to the various Championships.
It is very important that this Club and the Sport remembers people like Ted – both Ted and Doreen gave up so much for this Club and gave their all. They were the very Foundation of Athletics. Without their never-ending support where would our Sport be today? True Volunteers.

The funeral will be held at 12.30pm Weeley Crematorium, Colchester Road, Weeley CO16 9JP on Thursday 7th November.
