2017 UK Rankings
Chijindu Ujah and Desiree Henry were confirmed as the no 1 ranked 100m sprinters in the UK when the recent final UK rankings were published.
Both athletes attended school in Enfield,Desiree at St Anne’s and CJ at Lee Valley High. And both were raised just a few minutes away from the Lee Valley Athletics Centre at N9,Desiree in nearby Edmonton just off the Nightingale Road and CJ in Ponders End close to the roundabout where Mollison Avenue meets with Lea Valley Road. So they were always close by to Queen Elizabeth Stadium and the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.
Both athletes competed in the World Championships last August held in the Olympic Park,Stratford,London and both achieved semi final spots, narrowly failing to qualify for their respective 100m finals. However they both ran for Team GB in the 4x100m relay event on the penultimate day when Desiree earned a World Championship Silver medal and CJ earned Gold for GB&NI.
